Hydraulic Backfill Plants
Desliming

Hydraulic Backfill is normally prepared with classified mill tailings.  The "slimes" are removed to produce a predominantly sand sized product, having the required permeability characteristics.  Generally, hydrocyclones are used to recover the sand fraction which varies depending on the grind required to liberate the ore minerals.  For mines that have a coarse grind, it may be possible to produce sufficient backfill with a single stage cyclone circuit.  For operations with a fine grind, a two or possibly three stage cyclone circuit may be necessary.
